L’Eau par Kenzo pour Femme was created by the Japanese fashion designer Kenzo Takada in 1996 and it is based in the idea of pureness, which is symbolized by water. It is a non-complex fragrance, whose purpose is to refresh without any overload of arinatic notes. The glass bottle and the perfume liquid are completely transparent, giving the idea of a bottle filled with pure water directly at the source.
The opening is fresh, with soft floral notes and a hint of slightly bitter watery aroma, similar to the one given by lotus flower. Gradually, notes of the family of orange start to develop, but it is the juice rather than the zest. In the middle phase the orange leaves room to sweet notes of florals, which are roses, but can only be recognized from a short distance. At a later stage, there is a new sweet fruity note, between apricot and peach, with more floral notes, which are dense but with low intensity. The final phase has watery notes with residual fruits, and again the intensity is very low.
This Kenzo perfume for women is a personal rather than social perfume. If what you want is to give an clean, pure image, this is the fragrance for you.
L’Eau par Kenzo pour Homme repeats some of the ideas of its feminine counterpart, like the pureness of water, but with two main differences: the glass of the bottle and the liquid are bright blue and the aroma is more intense.
The opening of this Kenzo pour Homme is aromatic and citrus, fresh and intense, but without extremes. It feels like a concentrated lemon, but far from the traditional perfumery. In the middle phase there are extra green notes, which create a “shower” sensation, between soapy and sage. In the base notes there is a green herbal aroma, with a lukewarm musk, but with a much lower intensity than in the middle phase.
Although the green notes remind of one of the Axe deodorants, the general structure of the fragrance balances this effect with a constant recognizable aroma of citrus.
On the romantic side the green metallic note can be shocking, and it should be applied in moderation. Ideal age range between 20 and 45 years.
